Aquatic therapy is a type of physical therapy that is performed in the water. Water is beneficial because of the buoyancy that it provides by supporting the patient in the water. It helps to decrease a patient’s weight bearing and can assist a patient in performing exercises that they may not be able to perform on land. Aquatic therapy can be used for a variety of diagnoses including arthritis, back and joint pain, post orthopedic surgery, and well as generalized muscle weakness. Aquatic therapy can be used with the pediatric population to geriatrics. More
Occupational therapy involves diagnosing and treating patients to restore a patient’s ability to perform daily living and work tasks. Occupational therapy works to help a patient achieve independence in all areas of their lives including areas such as dressing, bathing, and eating. Occupational therapy can provide techniques or equipment that can allow patients the opportunity to complete a task successfully. Occupational therapy can also fabricate upper extremity splints to assist in treatment and advancing a patient’s skills. More
Speech therapy involves the evaluation and treatment of patients with speech, voice and language disorders. Speech therapy can include speech and language treatment, cognitive retraining, and swallowing evaluations.
