Joint Commission Gold SealBellevue Medical Center has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care, quality and safety.

The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standard-setting and accrediting body in health care.  The Joint Commission recently conducted an on-site survey of Bellevue Medical Center as part of the process for the hospital to receive this seal of approval and accreditation.  The survey was an audit of the actual delivery of critical services offered at the hospital.

“This accreditation is a testament to our organization-wide commitment to provide quality care on an ongoing basis” said Martin T. Carmody, CEO at Bellevue Medical Center

As a result of earning this accreditation and effective immediately, Bellevue Medical Center has gained acceptance as a provider for healthcare services under the Medicare, Medicaid and TRICARE programs.

TRICARE is a regionally managed health care program for Active Duty, Activated Guard and Reserves, Retired members of the uniformed services, their families, and survivors.

Levi Scheppers, CFO of Bellevue Medical Center noted that it may take a short period of time for the hospital to be listed with these insurance providers.  “We may not appear in their systems for a couple of days but we are in network as of now,” said Scheppers.

With these agreements Bellevue Medical Center now has contracts in place with most major insurance providers.

Patients with questions regarding their specific insurance plans and coverage are encouraged to contact their insurance provider for details.
